Predaceous Water Beetles

Family Dytiscidae Sp
 The family Dytiscidae, Predaceous Water Beetles, consists of over 200 species in South Africa.


They can be anywhere between 1-45mm in length, smooth and oval-shaped.

Adults carry a supply of air below their close-fitting elytra and both adults and larvae surface to replenish their air supply via spiracles at the tip of the abdomen.
