Red-backed Shrike - female

A migrant bird seen only in the summer months in the northern half of SA.
Found in savanna and woodlands.

Eats insects and small reptiles.

Beautiful images, Joan. We saw the Red-tailed (Isabelline) Shrike here in Mwadui in November and also up in the Nubian desert (North Sudan) in 2010. Hope you're keeping well. Greetings. Jo
